Imperial College

This washroom project was part of an extensive refurbishment at Imperial College in London.

Unity & Vepps IPS panelling & Solid Surface vanity units

Our key considerations were to provide a contemporary facility which could be used as a benchmark for all future public toilet spaces throughout the college.

Dan Curtis - Strategic Development Manager, Imperial College

The project.

The Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine is among the top universities in the world, ranking 3rd in Europe and 10th overall. The College was founded in 1907 and currently has over 14,000 full-time students from 126 countries. Situated in London’s South Kensington the College’s main campus recently underwent renovations.

The challenge.

The washroom project was part of an extensive refurbishment of the Sherfield Building, transforming an existing bar area into a restaurant with meeting rooms and public toilets. Imperial College wanted to create sleek, modern washrooms that would handle heavy traffic and would stand the test of time with regards to usage and design.

The solution.

Venesta worked with the College to select products that would be fit for purpose and withstand the usage but also meet their design criteria. Our flush-fronted toilet cubicle range, Unity, was selected. The clean, modern and minimal design made it the ideal solution.

With the sleek fittings along with the "floating" appearance - thanks to the set-back pedestals - Unity has made a big impact in these new washroom areas.

Imperial College specified their Unity toilet cubicles in Solid Grade Laminate (SGL). SGL is impervious to water, meaning that these busy washrooms could withstand regular and thorough cleaning regimes. SGL is also impact and scratch resistant, meaning the cubicles will be looking their very best for many years.

Our industry-leading pre-plumbed panelling system, Vepps, was specified along with Unity cubicles. Offering simple and fast installation as all sanitaryware is pre-plumbed and tested at our manufacturing facility, it was the ideal washroom IPS system for the College to choose so they could open the new facilities in good time.

Mr Curtis was delighted with the product and service Venesta provided. He commented that products made in the UK with readily available parts was an important part of their selection process, making Venesta the ideal choice.
