St Edmunds Catholic School

St Edmund’s Catholic School is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school located in Portsmouth. Its fundamental aim is to “provide a Christian education for their children within the discipline and traditions of the Catholic Church”. The school is committed to enabling every pupil to achieve their true potential. To maintain this standard, the school required student-focused washrooms in the recent art block refurbishment.

The male and female washrooms at St Edmunds were renovated to balance student privacy with appropriate adult supervision when required. To improve safety and oversight, the school removed the entrance doors to these washrooms while still ensuring students retain the privacy they are entitled to.

Our Titan cubicle range offers a floor-to-ceiling washroom solution designed to maximise privacy, while integrating essential safety features such as satin anodised aluminium emergency release indicator bolts and anti-finger trap hinges. These features were a priority for St Edmunds, as it is a secondary school where pupils are given a higher level of independence; however, safety and anti-bullying measures must still be ensured in the absence of constant adult supervision.

As these washrooms are high-traffic areas, the school required a system capable of withstanding heavy daily use. Titan features a unique satin anodised aluminium shoe that provides added rigidity and durability, meeting the demands of St Edmund’s school environment. We specified these cubicle systems for their male and female washrooms. The washrooms featured thoughtfully selected colour palettes, including ‘Peony’, ‘Dark Walnut’, and ‘Pacific’, creating a well-designed and vibrant finish. This approach helps create a more welcoming environment for students, encouraging respect for the facilities and contributing to reduced vandalism and graffiti.

To complement the cubicles at St Edmunds, our Rapiduct panelling was specified for its simple installation and cost-effective benefits, all panelling was specified in Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) to provide a robust finish thanks to its non-porous, scratch and heat-resistant properties.
