Eton College

Eton College is the largest boarding school in England and is one of only three to retain the boys-only tradition, in which students live at the school seven days a week during term time.

To maintain the high standards expected of the college, annual refurbishments are carried out to give students high quality facilities to use during the school term. The student’s communal washroom areas all required updating to make maintaining hygienic and clean areas easier for both staff and students.  

Eton College specified Award cubicles for the student's onsite living facilities. Award is simple to install and offers an easy to maintain yet hard wearing solution that can withstand the constant use the washrooms were set to receive throughout the school year.

Fitted as standard, Award toilet cubicles feature emergency release indicator bolts to allow access to locked cubicles in the event of an emergency without damaging the door or lock. The cubicles also feature anti-tamper fixings with concealed hinges and locks to deter any potential vandalism, keeping students safe.

Specified in Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) coreboard, the washrooms can withstand the hustle and bustle of everyday school life for years to come thanks to the cubicle's scratch, impact and water-resistant qualities. The cubicles were specified in our cool and refreshing ‘Hydrangea’ laminate to brighten and modernise the space.

To complement the cubicles, Vepps IPS panelling was specified, this ensures all WCs, urinals and flush plates are fitted and rigorously tested at our manufacturing facility ahead of delivery. Not only did this ensure complete design control for the college to handpick sanitaryware but it reduced onsite installation by 50% compared to other plain panel alternatives to reopen the facilities as quickly as possible.

A combination of SGL vanity units and Solid Surface washtroughs were used throughout campus to ensure fit for purpose solutions were installed to meet the needs of the college.

Solid Surface washtroughs were specified to add a modern and stylish solution to complement the rest of the washroom. The space-saving design enables more tap points to be fitted closer together, making them ideal for the college's smaller washrooms located in high-traffic areas on the school grounds. Its non-porous, stain and bacteria-resistant material ensures a seamless finish that is easy to maintain thanks to its fewer joins reducing potential areas for bacteria to harbour.
