The project.

Oxford Brookes University is one of the UK’s leading modern universities, known for academic excellence, strong graduate employability, and a commitment to sustainability. As part of a campus-wide improvement programme, the university invested in improved washroom facilities across key buildings.

With a student population exceeding 16,000 and thousands of daily visitors, high-quality, durable and stylish washrooms were a core part of the refurbishment plans.

The challenge.

The university needed robust and low-maintenance washroom systems that could withstand the high footfall typical of higher education settings. Design was equally important. The specification called for a clean, contemporary finish that would align with the university’s modern architectural vision.

Timing was also critical. With the refurbishment taking place during term time, the installation had to be completed quickly and with minimal disruption. For this reason, experienced washroom installation specialists T-IPS Washrooms, one of our Accredited Installers, was appointed to manage the installation and ensure a smooth delivery on site.

The solution.

Unity Full Height cubicles offer full floor-to-ceiling coverage, giving users increased privacy and comfort. The range features a flush-fronted, minimalist design with setback pedestals, creating a sleek, floating appearance that complements the university’s contemporary interiors.

Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) was specified, a highly durable, waterproof material designed for high-traffic and demanding environments. SGL is impact-resistant, easy to clean and ideal for busy university washrooms where performance and longevity are essential.

Functionality and student safety were key considerations. Unity’s emergency release indicator bolts allow for quick and safe access to locked cubicles in the event of an emergency, a feature that’s particularly valued in education settings.

For this project, the cubicles were specified in our Gunmetal finish, paired with light grey ABS fittings, resulting in a clean, industrial look that works well in contemporary education buildings.

Venesta worked closely with T-IPS Washrooms and the university’s project management team to deliver a high-specification washroom refurbishment on time and to exacting standards.
