Requirements for toilet design in a special education needs setting

Designing a toilet for a mainstream school is largely a question of numbers, layout efficiency and durability. Designing one for a special educational needs (SEN) setting is a different exercise: the brief expands to cover wheelchair users, ambulant pupils, pupils with sensory processing differences, pupils who need hoists or changing benches, and pupils who may display behaviours that put standard fixtures under far greater strain.
